Emmaus House

Residential Care Home

"And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them." Luke 24:15

***WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED TO NON-ESSENTIAL VISITORS***

We are able to offer Skype, when our Activities Coordinator is available, so that there is a means of communication for our residents and their families. If you would like to book a slot, please email the following address and our Coordinator will get back to you in due course: residents1996@outlook.com Please note: she does not work every day, so you may not get an immediate response. Thank you for your patience.

We have today (6 Nov 2020) received guidance about visiting under the latest restrictions in England. In the main, we would ask you to think very carefully about whether your visit is necessary. Please consider using the telephone or booking a Skype call in the first instance. Everyone has worked hard to keep your loved ones safe and free of Covid-19, and every time someone visits, the risk of the virus being brought in increases. Please be reassured that the staff will contact you and make separate arrangements for you to visit if they feel this is necessary.

If you still wish to visit, this will be BY APPOINTMENT and FOR UP TO 30 MINUTES ONLY so that time can be shared fairly among all of the residents. At the end of your allocated slot, please leave the vicinity as you arrived. The staff have been advised to bring your visit to a conclusion if you have not gone. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR FACE MASKS FOR THE DURATION OF THE VISIT. This applies whether visits take place at a window, or if the conservatory is being used in bad weather.

You are also only allowed to have ONE NAMED FAMILY MEMBER to visit, and it will need to be this person only who comes to the home each time. This does not mean that a different person may visit on different occasions.

Please ring the supervisors on 01946 591362 option 3 to check what times are available and to book your slot. You will need to ring the front doorbell when you arrive, so the staff can direct you.

Following ongoing guidance for Care Homes *circulated 30/06/20* YOU WILL BE ASKED TO FILL IN A QUESTIONNAIRE CONFIRMING THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE COVID SYMPTOMS AND NOR DOES ANYONE ELSE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD. You will also be asked to use hand sanitiser and wear a face mask.

VISITORS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE TOILETS AND OTHER FACILITIES.

We ask that you follow social distancing and maintain a distance of 2 metres where possible. Failure to adhere to this may result in your relative or friend being quarantined for two weeks. **REMEMBER, THERE SHOULD BE NO PHYSICAL CONTACT** and you should not pass anything over to your loved one. Any items should be left with the staff for cleansing as normal.

IF YOU DO HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE TO YOUR RELATIVE OR FRIEND, PLEASE RING THE DOORBELL AND THE STAFF WILL PASS THE ITEM ON AFTER IT HAS BEEN SANITISED. IF WE ARE NOT CAREFUL, THE ONE THING YOU GIVE TO YOUR LOVED ONE COULD BE COVID-19!!!

****IN THE MAIN, VISITING IS STILL PROHIBITED. PLEASE STAY AWAY, PROTECT THE NHS & CARE HOMES, AND SAVE LIVES!!!!!!****

Emmaus House is located at Moresby Parks, Whitehaven and was opened in June 1992 for the glory of God and to provide care with an optimal quality of life, comfort and dignity. The Cumbria Emmaus Trust was formed as a charity in June 1987 to provide residential care for older Christians.

24 hour care is provided for long term or respite care requirements. The emphasis is placed on high quality individual care and attention to each resident, in a loving Christian environment.

Emmaus House provides care for people arranging their care independently and those referred to us through Social Services, those who require short periods of respite care and more.

Cumbria Emmaus Trust believes that our Christian ethos is based on the need to express Christ’s love to those whom we serve as residents in Emmaus House, to the staff and to all who interact with us.
