Residential Care Home

"And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them." Luke 24:15

RELAXATION OF CARE HOME VISITING

FROM MONDAY 19 JULY there is to be some easing of restrictions nationally. However, we need to ensure that the safety of the residents is paramount. For this reason we will be taking a step-wise approach, and will not move to fully open visiting immediately. This has been partly guided by the fact that the slots we have offered in recent months have not been fully booked. THE SITUATION WILL BE REVIEWED ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

As a first step, visiting will no longer be limited to only five named visitors but, due to the size of our rooms, we are only able to accommodate a maximum of two visitors per resident at any given time.

Whether you have booked an indoor or outdoor visit, we would ask that you arrive and depart promptly, so that you do not affect the visits of others who may have booked before or after you.

For the time being, we are still only able to admit visitors on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for those who work during the week. When you book, you will be given a time to come to Emmaus House and be tested for Coronavirus using a Lateral Flow test. This will take place in the portakabin at the front door, and you will be given instructions on arrival by our team of volunteers. The test takes 30 minutes, so you will be asked to wait in your car before returning to the portakabin for the result to be processed and for you to be guided through registering the result online. Once this is completed, you will directed to the front door where you will need to ring the doorbell and wait for staff to let you in.

WE ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO WEAR FACEMASK, GLOVES AND APRON FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR VISIT and we will provide these. When you are ready to leave you should ring for a member of staff who will escort you out. We would ask you not to walk around the building without an escort.

WE ASK THAT YOU REFRAIN FROM USING THE TOILETS OR OTHER FACILITIES WITHIN THE BUILDING AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.

We also ask that you continue to follow social distancing and maintain a distance of 2 metres where possible. Failure to adhere to this may result in your relative or friend being quarantined for two weeks. **REMEMBER, UNLESS YOU ARE WEARING GLOVES THERE SHOULD BE NO PHYSICAL CONTACT** and you should not pass anything over to your loved one. Any items should be left with the staff for cleansing as normal.

IF YOU DO HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE TO YOUR RELATIVE OR FRIEND, PLEASE RING THE DOORBELL AND THE STAFF WILL PASS THE ITEM ON AFTER IT HAS BEEN SANITISED.

Emmaus House is located at Moresby Parks, Whitehaven and was opened in June 1992 for the glory of God and to provide care with an optimal quality of life, comfort and dignity. The Cumbria Emmaus Trust was formed as a charity in June 1987 to provide residential care for older Christians.

24 hour care is provided for long term or respite care requirements. The emphasis is placed on high quality individual care and attention to each resident, in a loving Christian environment.

Emmaus House provides care for people arranging their care independently and those referred to us through Social Services, those who require short periods of respite care and more.

Cumbria Emmaus Trust believes that our Christian ethos is based on the need to express Christ’s love to those whom we serve as residents in Emmaus House, to the staff and to all who interact with us.
