Emmaus House Gardens

Emmaus House gardens are a haven of peace and serenity with one of the most spectacular views across Bristol towards Dundry - a real 'oasis in the city'.  We are proud to have recently been awarded 1st place in Bristol in Bloom's 2006 Best Commercial Business category, having previously achieved Best Innovative Garden in1999 and Best Holistic Garden in 1997.

Covering approximately one-and-a-half acres, the gardens consist of several distinct areas including a Victorian walled kitchen garden, a formal herb garden, a courtyard garden with original Victorian cobblestones and stone watercourse, and a tranquil Zen garden boasting water and bamboo features. A small area of ground has also been transformed into a woodland walk.

As well as opening by appointment for group visits, the gardens open three times a year to the general public in participation with the National Gardens Scheme's programme of Open Days.  The first of these for 2008 takes place this coming Sunday, 27th April with the gates opening at 11.00 am. The entrance fee is £3.00 per adult (children free) and all proceeds go to the NGS's sponsored charities.  Delicious light lunches, teas and coffees and scrumptious cakes are served on the Rose Terrace, weather permitting, and a selection of plants is usually on sale.  Last entry is at 4.00 pm before closure at 4.30 pm.   For those travelling from further afield, bed and breakfast can be arranged.  The remaining dates for the year are dates are Sundays 1 June and 13 July.

Please note that disabled access is difficult due to the nature of the gardens' layout: there is, however, a ramp leading from the front car park to the Restaurant and the Rose Terrace from where a good view of the majority of the gardens can be obtained.  Dogs are not permitted.
